IS YOUR YOGA TEACHER AN OLYMPIAN???

I first noticed the benefits of yoga when after practicing consistently my sleep improved. Then injuries rarely occurred, because the level of body awareness I was cultivating on the mat allowed me to “listen” to my body and to recognize when I could push and when I should pull back. It made me a more coachable athlete because I am constantly training my command over my body. In big meets when the difference between a medal or not comes down to execution the athlete that can stay in control over their body (and mind) and execute has the advantage.

It’s taught me self awareness, self-compassion, and self-love and is an act of radical self-care. It can be intimidating to give yoga a try, especially in studio. That’s why, during COVID-19 pandemic I decided to start teaching. After being trained by Stephanie Snyder, Nichol Chase, and Susannah Freedman at Love Story Yoga in San Francisco in 2018 I received my 200 hour certification. Join me via zoom on the mat for an introduction to a practice that will never let you down. Just show up, breathe, and move.

YIN YOGA

In Yin Yoga we focus on long holds and deep breathing. We spend most of the class sitting or lying down. Deep stretching gets into the fascia and helps facilitate release of the muscles and switching to the parasympathetic system (rest and digest).

BREATHE AND MOVE

An all levels vinyasa flow 45 minutes long and students can choose their ticket price. Start class getting grounded and centered with the breath. Then flow with a vibrant playlist as we mindfully move energy, sweat, and let go of things we no longer need. Rest in savasana before heading into your weekend.

TRANSFORMATION TUESDAY

Take some “You” time and transform your mood and energy from start to finish. If Monday beat you up a bit, begin again with a transformative Tuesday practice.

Believe it or not, the practice of Yoga has eight limbs, only one of them is physical. The Asana limb (Sanskrit for posture) is what we commonly think of when we take a yoga class. The goal of entire practice of yoga (all eight limbs) is to “still the mind.” The goal of moving through an asana practice is to practice linking our breath with movement, which creates present oneness within us. Athletes and high performance know this feeling as “the zone.” My personal yoga practice involves Asana (postures or poses), Meditation, and Pranayama (breath work).
